UX Designer and Researcher
About Me
My Education and Research Experience
For my undergraduate degree I studied psychology at Stony Brook University. I ended up obtaining a research assistant position within one of the research labs within the psychology department. Within this role, I ran eye tracking studies and collected data using an Eyelink 1000 eye tracker. This experience is what developed my initial interest in the UX field. I graduated from Stony Brook with Summa Cum Laude honors, and am now enrolled in Pratt Insitute’s Information Experience Design Master’s program.
In my first semester I’ve become familiar with the web prototyping software Figma and have utilized it for two of my projects. I’ve also built a website after learning HTML and CSS. Finally, I’ve experimented with different web builders such as Wix and Framer.
In addition to these new design skills, I’ve built upon the research skills I acquired in my undergraduate degree. When I was a research assistant, I had to ask all participants interview questions throughout the study trials. This semester I honed my participant interviewing skills and learning better question phrasing practices. I also utilized Optimal Workshop to conduct tree testing and card sorting studies to design and test information architecture. Finally, I learned how wireframe and prototype testing works, and ran some tests personally for one of my projects.
Work Experience
I currently am working as a Marketing Intern for Long Island Speech and Myofunctional Therapy. Right now I’m helping with their website redesign process, and am building a prototype in Figma. I also make other marketing materials such as stickers, flyers, and postcards in Canva. I’ve used Adobe Photoshop as well to elevate designs further when necessary.
I also previously worked as a Program Host for TD3 Innovative Gaming. In this role, I learned how to manage servers used for Minecraft and developed better trouble shooting skills when it came to technology that was being used. I also learned how to relay information to the students who were attending in an easy to understand way, so we could expedite the learning process.
Hobbies
Ever since I was little I’ve been really into gaming! With the new knowledge I have thanks to my current curriculum, I’ve come to appreciate the work that goes into testing video games to make them usable, accessible, and satisfying. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say it’s either Skyrim (2011) or Elden Ring (2022).
I’ve also come to enjoy reading as I’ve gotten older. It’s nice that character and scenery visualizations are up to me to interpret, as it makes the story experience more subjective. I've been into fiction novels lately, with my recent favorite being Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.
Finally, I do enjoy drawing and other creative work. Seeing my effort pay off by looking at the progress I’ve made with my art work is a great feeling!
